What We Sow
An international open call inviting artists to imagine what is worth preserving, building and entrusting to the future.
Theme
We live under a state of permanent emergency. Facts are reported as though catastrophe were inevitable; dystopia has escaped the realm of imagination to become the ordinary language through which the future is described. Conflicts are justified as necessary and righteous. Political instability has become the new stability. Climate anxiety, inflation and uncertainty are steadily eroding our ability to envision a shared future.
This open call invites artists to reverse that perspective, challenge its narratives and reclaim the imagery of what lies ahead. Not to escape the complexity of the present, nor to retreat into naïve optimism, but to confront it through an act of vision and responsibility: to give form to a new possible world and imagine what is worth preserving, building and entrusting to the future—for ourselves and for those who will come after us.
What vision should become part of our cultural inheritance?
Who can apply
Open worldwide to artists aged 18 and over, at every stage of their practice. No previous exhibitions or formal artistic CV are required.
Accepted media
Painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, video, installation, digital art, mixed media, interdisciplinary practices and innovative projects.
How to apply
Choose the number of artworks or projects, complete payment and submit via email the public viewing links. Links must remain accessible and unchanged throughout the selection period.
The participation fee is non-refundable and supports the time devoted to the selection process and the administrative, promotional, organizational and curatorial costs of the project.
Dates
Applications open: 28 November 2026
Applications close: 28 February 2027
Further documentation
Shortlisted artists will be invited to provide high-resolution images, additional views, technical specifications and any relevant information we may need.
Selected artists
Final selected artists are intended to take part in a curated group exhibition in Milan. Venue and dates will be announced following formal confirmation.
Institutional programme
Selected works may subsequently be considered for cultural and exhibition opportunities developed with municipalities, banks, foundations, companies, cultural centres and other public or private institutions.
